The Introvert Extrovert Relationship: Chapter One — I Just Met You
As a recent graduate embarking on my finance career in my early 20s, I was excited for the next stage of adulthood, which began with some romance. It all started on my first day as a Staff Accountant in Corporate America and the first person I laid my eyes on was you.
I instantly fell in love hard, head over heels, butterflies in my stomach, and cheeks turning pink. I still remember the long sleeve shirt you wore, the perfectly gel hairdo with a sleek pen on the top of your fingertips. Corporate America was buying everyone Starbucks that day. You turned to me and asked if I wanted anything from there. I kindly declined but you asked again and I finally settled for a cold brew with extra shots of creamer.
My face was red and I was blushing. Everyone thought it was my first day jitters..little did they know that I had the biggest crush on you.
I was an introvert. I stayed in my corner in front of the computer all day. If I could do that for lunch, I definitely would as well but I was forced to mingle and socialize with all the other colleagues. Most people were great, friendly and super affable. There were birthday celebrations, weekly meetings, weekly lunches where I got to see you and the team more and more.
