I'm a female and I think the dating world has changed so much and in general, tough. It's difficult to find a solid connection with males disregarding age, dietary restrictions, or political affiliation as a factor. Small talk and light conversations are interesting but it can only go so far. To sum up, the dating world for males is tough but I feel like the obstacles for females are just as prominent.

You make very valid points but I think it's just difficult to connect to another human being in today's dating world, at least that's where I find my difficulty lies and not necessary all the "trivial" matters you listed. Quotations because they are not at all trivial but very important!
