Does Tipping give you anxiety?

What are your thoughts on America’s tipping policy?

Is 20% enough? Too much? Do you think their wages should cover the services? Do you think eating out is overpriced? How do you feel about tipping in America and how much do you tip when you eat out?

The standard tip in America used to be 15% but currently, consumers are expected to pay a 20% service fee, so does that mean anything above 20% signifies a stellar service and anything below 20% is simply mediocre. That sounds like a lot of pressure to me.

There’s been several debates over the tipping policy in America — both parties making great persuasive points.

One side states it’s the norm for employees to receive tips. Many of us work in the service industry because of the tipping culture and the ability to earn more money in order to support our families.

The other side states that it is the employee’s responsibility to serve us well without expecting tips. The service should be included in the meal and employees should not be in this line of work dependent upon tips.

Another group argues that tipping is expected but should tipping stop at self-operated kiosk machines when you purchase your own items and pick up your drinks from the counter? Does it make sense for the business to request a 20% markup for essentially “no service?”
